The Takatsuka Atago Jizo Statue

The Takatsuka Atago Jizo Statue

Religious devouts gather here to pray for good fortune at these rare Jizo statues that are relics of the synthesis between Buddhism and Shintoism. Locals lovingly refer to them as "Takatsuka-san" (Mr. Takatsuka). The sheer presence of nearly 2,000 of these Jizo statues is a sight to behold. In fall, the sacred tree "Chichi Icho" glows with a fantastical golden hue. Those who love a good climb are welcome to try the roads with particularly steep inclines.
